For the first time in 2013 the teams competing in the European Le Mans Series will be working out of awnings in the paddock, just like their colleagues 4000 miles away in the American Le Mans Series. This has been seen as a great opportunity to showcase the ELMS to the thousands of Austrian fans who are expected to attend the event, as they will be able to get really close to the cars and drivers.
“Because the Renault 3.5 cars are operating out of the garages here at the Red Bull Ring the ELMS teams have to operate out of awnings in the paddock,” said ELMS CEO Gerard Neveu. “This works very well in the United States, especially at place like Sebring where the fans expect to get close to the competitors during the race weekend. I know this will be a big draw for the Austrian fans coming to the track tomorrow and we will put on a great show for them.”
Race fans can visit the paddock during the event and take part in the autograph session at 14:00 tomorrow afternoon, two and a half hours before the start of the 3 Hours of the Red Bull Ring. In addition there will be two Red Bull air displays and other entertainment throughout the day.
