FP2: Iron Lynx-Proton Fastest as Teams Prepare for Qualifying at Le Castellet

With complete cloud cover and an air temperature of 20 degrees at the Circuit Paul Ricard, the 44 cars taking part in the final Free Practice session for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet took to the track.

The 90-minute practice session saw the no9 Iron Lynx-Proton Oreca post the fastest time in Free Practice once again with the 1m49.736 lap 0.6 seconds slower than the car’s FP1 time. The FP2 lap time was still three tenths ahead of the rest of the field with the no48 VDS Panis Racing Oreca finishing FP2 in second place with a 1m50.047.

The no43 Inter Europol Competition and no18 IDEC Sport Orecas finished third and fourth fastest respectively.

The fifth fastest car was also the leading LMP2 Pro/Am competitor, which was the no99 AO by TF Oreca with a 1m50.309. The next fastest Pro/Am entrant was the no27 Nielsen Racing Oreca in 9th overall with a 1m50.569, two places ahead of the no21 United Autosports.

The no17 CLX Motorsport Ligier continues to head the LMP3 field for the second time in Free Practice. In FP2 the team recorded a best lap of 1m59.539, 0.173s ahead of the second fastest car in the session, the no12 WTM by Rinaldi Racing Duqueine-Toyota with a 1m59.712.

Reigning champions RLR MSport were third quickest with a 2m00.118 ahead of the no11 Eurointernational Ligier in fourth.

The fastest LMGT3 car was the no50 Richard Mille by AF Corse with a 2m03.621, nearly 0.1 seconds faster than the best time set in FP1 by the no51 AF Corse Ferrari.

The no86 GR Racing Ferrari was second fastest with a 2m03.627, with the no57 Kessel Racing Ferrari third quickest at the end of the session.

Qualifying for the 4 Hours of Le Castellet will take place this afternoon starting with LMGT3 at 14h20 CEST.
